Air India-Vistara merger: Tata Group rejigs leadership ahead of Vistara’s last flight
Mumbai: Tata group airline Air India has conducted a leadership rejig ahead of Vistara’s merger with the legacy carrier. Vistara CEO Vinod Kanan, currently holding the post of Chief Integration Officer, will continue in the latter role post-integration and report into Air India CEO Campbell Wilson, according to an official statement.
Vistara is jointly owned by Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines. The airline’s merger with Air India will come into effect on November 12. Tata Group has named Vistara Chief Commercial Officer Deepak Rajawat as CFO of Air India Express. He will report into Air India Express Aloke Singh. Rajawat will also provide support to Air India Group CFO Sanjay Sharma on strategic initiatives and projects.
Leadership changes in Vistara, Air India, Air India Express
Air India Express CFO Vikas Agarwal will take up a new role at Air India. Hamish Maxwell, senior VP for flight operations at Vistara, will take up an advisory role at Air India Express. He will serve as advisor to Air India Express CEO Aloke Singh. Air India Express COO Pushpinder Singh will return to his role as a pilot. according to the official statement. Tata Group will also look for a successor for Singh.
While Vistara CFO Niyant Maru is set to retire, senior VP of HR and corporate affairs Deepa Chadha, and Chief Information Officer Vinod Bhatt will be moved to other Tata group companies. There will be no more changes in the C-suite at Air India Group, according to thee statement.
‘Most complex merger in aviation history’
Tata Group airlines have been moving towards this merger to consolidate 4 airlines into 2 entities, noted Air Idnai group CEO Campbell Wilson. Calling it “one of the most complex mergers in aviation history” he said the group was now approaching the end of the process. The leadership rejig will “drive the next phase of our journey,” he added.
