New Delhi, exposed. Air India’s A350 aircraft, which was flying from Delhi to London Heathrow on Thursday morning, returned to the national capital due to a technical snag. According to media reports, some unusual sounds were heard in flight AI111, after which as a precautionary measure the airline decided to send the plane back to Delhi. At that time the plane was in Saudi Arabian airspace. Air India spokesperson said that the plane landed safely at Delhi airport. He said the airline is conducting a thorough technical check of the aircraft as per high safety standards, which may take some additional time. The spokesperson expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to passengers and assured that the airline is making every effort to ensure that passengers can continue their journey to London as soon as possible.

According to sources, this is the same A350-900 aircraft (VT-JRF), which also had a technical fault on March 15. At that time, the flight coming from New York to Delhi was also diverted towards Shannon Airport in Ireland. Air India has started operating A350-900 aircraft from January 2024 and it is considered to be a high capacity and modern technology aircraft. Officials say that the plane will be cleared for international flights again only after the technical inspection is completed.
