Air travel becomes expensive: Indigo increases ticket fare, passengers will have to pay extra from ₹ 425 to ₹ 2300
Air travel in India is going to get expensive soon. Major airlines of the country IndiGo has announced that fuel surcharge will be implemented on domestic and international flight tickets from March 14. After this decision, passengers may have to pay additional charges ranging from ₹ 425 to ₹ 2300 while booking tickets.
According to the company, this decision has been taken in view of the rising prices of aviation fuel. For some time now aviation turbine fuel i.e. Aviation Turbine Fuel Airline prices are continuously increasing, due to which the operating expenses of airlines companies have increased significantly.
According to the information, jet fuel accounts for about 40 percent of the total operational expenses of any airline. In such a situation, when there is a sudden increase in fuel prices, it directly impacts the ticket prices. For this reason Indigo has decided to implement fuel surcharge.
According to reports, other airlines companies of the country may also take similar steps. SpiceJet And Akasa Air are also considering the option of implementing fuel surcharge on their tickets. Due to this, the cost of air travel may increase further in the future.
It is being said that before this Air India And Air India Express had also implemented additional fuel charge on its tickets. Now after this decision of Indigo, other airlines can also take steps in the same direction.
Global conditions are also being held responsible for the increase in aviation fuel prices. Due to increasing geopolitical tension in the Middle East, crude oil prices are rising in the international market. especially Strait of Hormuz For example, instability in the oil market has increased due to uncertainty regarding the important sea route.
Apart from this, the weakness of the Indian rupee against the US dollar has also become a challenge for the airlines companies. Crude oil is imported in dollars, so the weakening of the rupee puts additional economic pressure on airlines.
According to media reports, fuel surcharge is being implemented in a phased manner. In the first phase, additional charges have been imposed on domestic flights and flights to South Asian countries. In the second phase, this fee will be increased on flights going to Europe, North America and Australia.
Industry experts say that if global oil prices continue to rise like this, air travel may become more expensive in the coming months. In such a situation, passengers may have to spend more than before at the time of ticket booking.
