Airbus will provide employment to about 5,000 people in the next 2 years, will work together with Tata

New Delhi : Airplane manufacturing company Airbus has planned to create employment opportunities in India in the next 2 years. The company has decided that in the coming 2 years the number of its employees in India is expected to exceed 5,000. A senior Airbus official said on Thursday that the company's first target during this period would be to purchase service and spare parts worth $2 billion from the country.

Remi Maillard, President and Managing Director, South Asia Division, Airbus India, said the company's engagement with the country is gaining new momentum. Currently, the company directly employs about 3,500 people in India and receives service and spare parts worth one billion euros from the country.

imports will increase

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the Airbus India and South Asia Headquarters – Training Center in the national capital, he said this will further boost imports and it is expected to reach $2 billion in the next few years. He said that the number of direct employment of Airbus in India will cross 5,000 in the next few years.

Partnership with Tata Group

Airbus will also set up a second pilot training center through a joint venture with Air India and invest to develop a 5,000-seat Airbus campus in Bengaluru. Additionally, the leading European company will manufacture C295 military aircraft and H125 helicopters in India. Both programs are being carried out in partnership with the Tata Group.

Made in India

Maillard said Airbus is working with Indian research organizations to support the commercialization of the first 'Made in India' eco-friendly aviation fuel (SAF). Maillard said future modernization products of the Indian Armed Forces call for replicating the success of the C295 programme. This includes programs like Medium Transport Airplane for which we are ready to fully industrialize the A400M in India.
