Airtel gave a shock to crores of users at midnight! Most popular 84 day plan secretly made expensive, now you will have to pay this much money
New Delhi: Veteran telecom company Airtel has slowly given a big shock to crores of its customers. The company has silently increased the price of its best-selling and popular prepaid plan. Airtel has increased the price of 1.5GB daily data plan with 84 days validity from ₹859 to ₹899. The special thing is that the company did not make any big announcement about this, due to which the users who came to recharge came to know about it later.
Now this ₹899 plan has become Airtel’s main long-validity option in this price range.
What were the options earlier and what has changed now?
Earlier, Airtel used to have two main options between ₹700 and ₹800 – ₹799 and ₹859 plans. In these plans, users got 77 to 84 days validity with 1.5GB or 2GB daily data. But now the ₹ 859 plan has become costlier to ₹ 899. After this change, users have even fewer cheap options in this budget segment.
What is available in the new plan of ₹ 899?
In this “Truly Unlimited” plan of Airtel, users get unlimited calling facility in local, STD and roaming. Along with this, 100 SMS and 1.5GB high-speed data is given daily. If your daily data quota is exhausted, the internet will not stop completely, but its speed will reduce to 64 Kbps. At this speed you will be able to do basic tasks like sending WhatsApp messages, but video streaming will be difficult.
Airtel Rewards: Some were given and some were taken away
The company is also offering some extra benefits with this plan. It provides access to Adobe Express Premium for 12 months, which is good for designing enthusiasts. Apart from this, to avoid spam calls, the facility of Airtel Spam Alerts and free Hellotunes is also being provided. However, there is also bad news for the customers. The RewardsMini subscription available in the earlier ₹859 plan is no longer visible in this new ₹899 plan. The company has not yet given any clarification on this cut.
Small changes but big signs
Even though this increase is only of ₹ 40 and is currently limited to one plan, there is a bigger strategy of the company hidden behind it. Experts believe that Airtel is reducing discounts on its most popular 1.5GB data plans. The company wants users to gradually shift towards 5G services, so that the company’s average revenue per user (ARPU) can increase.
Will the plans become more expensive in future?
The way Airtel has increased the price of only one plan, it seems that currently the prices of all the plans will not increase simultaneously. Usually companies do not make such small changes before big tariff hikes. However, Airtel has already increased its international roaming pack from ₹4,000 to ₹4,999, indicating that the company is gradually increasing the prices.
