What is Airtel Priority Postpaid: The speed of 5G internet is increasing in India, but in the meantime a big controversy has arisen regarding the new Priority Postpaid service of Bharti Airtel. In such a situation, many people raised questions whether this service violates the rules of net neutrality and will it affect the internet speed of prepaid users? After which Airtel has now made its stand clear before the government on this matter.
Airtel denies violating net neutrality
For your information, let us tell you that Airtel said in front of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) committee in New Delhi that its Priority Postpaid service is completely within the rules. Along with this, according to the company, this service is based on 5G Network Slicing technology and no special benefit is given to any app, website or content in it. Responding to its customers, Airtel also said, ‘Priority Postpaid has been implemented in a completely content-neutral manner and is in line with the existing framework of TRAI and DoT. This does not include blocking any application, reducing speed, prioritizing based on content, zero-rating or giving special benefits to any application.”
What is Airtel’s new Priority Postpaid feature?
Talking about Priority Postpaid feature, Airtel had launched this new plan on May 19. Regarding which the company has said that with the help of this feature, postpaid customers will get continuous and stable internet speed even in congested areas. It has been observed that due to increase in network traffic in big cities and places like stadiums, the internet becomes slow. In such a situation, Network Slicing technology helps in providing better network experience to some users.
Will prepaid users suffer loss or not?
The biggest question in this problem was whether the speed of prepaid users will reduce due to Priority Postpaid? Airtel has completely rejected this. The company has said that currently the total 5G capacity utilization during peak hours is about 38%. In this, postpaid traffic is only 4%, which can increase to about 6% after this new service. Airtel says that despite this, about 60% additional capacity will be available for prepaid and other users.
