Aitana Bonmati reveals Lamine Yamal's Ballon d'Or superstition

Barcelona and Spain star Aitana Bonmati has offered up a brilliant Ballon d’Or anecdote on Lamine Yamal.

Bonmati capped off a superb season in Catalonia to become the second player to win the award back-to-back after teammate Alexia Putellas.

More glory for Bonmati stretches Barcelona’s dominance in the Ballon d’Or Feminin award with La Blaugrana now winning the title for four straight seasons.

Alongside Bonmati’s success, it was also another huge night for Lamine Yamal, as the 17-year-old won the Kopa Trophy.

The award for the best U21 player has now gone to a Barcelona player for third time in four years following wins for Pedri and Gavi.

As part of the celebrations, the travelling Barcelona party flew back to Spain together, with Bonmati and Lamine Yamal delighted in their success.

Bonmati commented on the speculation over the teenager being a future winner of the men’s Ballon d’Or and she admitted he made a special request over her trophy.

“He asked me if it had my name on it and I replied ‘do you want to touch it?’ – but he said no, as it would be a jinx”, as per quotes from Relief.
