Ajay Devgn’s Naam to release in theatres after 10 years – Why was it delayed?

New Delhi: Ajay Devgn fans have a lot to look forward to this year, with not one, but two releases this festive season. His much-anticipated Singham Again hits screens on Diwali. Apart from this, his long-shelved film Name is finally set to release in theatres on November 22. The project, directed by Anees Bazmee, has been in limbo for nearly ten years. But now the wait is finally over.

All about Ajay Devgn’s Naam

The action-drama Naam is Ajay and Anees’ fourth collaboration after Hulchul (1995), Love is what it is (1998), and Deewangee (2002). In addition to the Singham star, the film stars Bhumika Chawla and Sameera Reddy and is produced by Anil Roongta under Roongta Entertainment and Snigdhaa Movies Pvt. Ltd. Name will be distributed nationwide by Pen Marudhar, who recently revealed the official poster of the film.

Why was Ajay Devgn’s Naam delayed?

Name was initially shot in 2014 but faced delays due to unforeseen production issues. According to reports, one of the film’s original producers passed away, halting progress and creating financial roadblocks. Several trade sources reveal that the movie struggled to find distributors, leaving it in limbo for almost a decade. However, thanks to renewed interest from financiers and distributors, Name is now ready for its long-awaited theatrical release.

Ajay and Bazmee’s Diwali line-up

Interestingly, both Ajay Devgn and Anees Bazmee have other major films that will clash at the Box Office. The actor will reprise his iconic role as Bajirao Singham in Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again on November 1. This Avengers-style crossover includes an ensemble cast with Kareena Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Tiger Shroff, and Arjun Kapoor.

Meanwhile, Aneed is back with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, starring Kartik Aaryan, Triptii Dimi, Madhuri Dixit, and Vidya Balan. This horror-comedy will also be released on November 1.
