Ajay Jadeja explains how Sarfaraz Khan managed to stun New Zealand in the second innings of the first Test

Former India National Cricket Team Player Ajay Jadeja has said that Sarfaraz Khan scores his runs in unique areas. He also hailed the young batter’s batting against the spinners.

Sarfaraz scored an unbeaten 70 off 78 balls as India reached 231/3 at stumps on Day 3 of the first Test in New Zealand. The Kiwis posted 402 runs in the first innings and still lead by 125 runs.

“He is a different player, and the era is also different. Fielders are not placed in the third-man area many times in Test cricket. The teams in domestic cricket are aware of Sarfaraz’s game, but in international cricket, the rivals are still learning about him, and the fielder was placed there only in the end,” Ajay Jadeja said on JioCinema.

“He plays spinners with ease and has grown up playing spin. He used the pace, and his sixes went to mid wicket. His V is behind. He is targetting the areas which were not touched before by a batter in Test format,” he added.

He has hit seven fours and three sixes and has amassed 44 runs behind square, 26 on the offside, and 18 on the leg side.

“Sarfaraz Khan plays differently”: Aakash Chopra

Aakash Chopra lauded Sarfaraz Khan for his scoring areas. “You have to find ways to score runs, and he has his style. His success shows that domestic cricket is sending players to the national team after preparing them. He batted well against Ajaz Patel and other Kiwis bowlers and didn’t take any tension,” Aakash Chopra said.
