Ajmer Dargah or Sankat Mochan Mahadev Temple, the old book which sparked the controversy, has this thing written in it…

: Controversy has arisen regarding the Dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti located in Ajmer, Rajasthan. A petition filed by Hindu Sena national president Vishnu Gupta has claimed that earlier there was a temple of Sankat Mochan Mahadev at the Dargah site. This petition has been accepted by Ajmer Civil Court, after which the debate on this matter has intensified. The court has issued notice to the Minority Ministry, Dargah Committee and Archeology Department (ASI) seeking their response.

A particular book has been cited in the petition, whose name is “Ajmer Historical and Descriptive”. It was written in the year 1911 by Harbilas Sharda, who was a retired judge. It is mentioned in this book that where the Dargah is today, earlier a Brahmin couple used to worship in the temple of Sankat Mochan Mahadev. The petition states that the lofty doors and other structures present in the Dargah have clear evidence of the temple architecture. Claims to be the remains of the temple

The petitioner has given three major arguments while analyzing the structure of the Dargah. Carving of the lofty door: It has been claimed that the carving of the door is in the style of Hindu temples. Design of the dome: It has been said that the dome of the Dargah is also in the style of Hindu temples. indicates that it has been built on the remains of an old temple. Source of water: The petitioner also said that there is a water source or spring near Shiva temples and a water source is also present near the Dargah. Dargah Committee has given reaction on this matter, Dargah Committee and Khwaja Saheb's descendant Naseeruddin Chishti have given a sharp reaction on this matter. He said that this dispute is a threat to the unity of the country.

Naseeruddin said, “Hindu kings have also expressed their faith in Ajmer Dargah. Here Katra was presented by the Maharaja of Jaipur. Such claims are an attempt to divide the country.” Historical truth and Sufi tradition Vishnu Gupta claims that this place was a Shiva temple before Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti came to India. Referring to the book of Harbilas Sharda, he said that “earlier here Mahadev's tilak was done with sandalwood and Jalabhishek was done.” At the same time, the Dargah Committee says that people of every religion who have faith in Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti come here and it is wrong to make it a center of religious dispute. In the petition demanding a survey from the Archeology Department, the Archeology Department has been asked to survey the Dargah site. A demand has been made so that it can be certified whether there was a temple there earlier or not. The next hearing of the case will be on September 20. This controversy has sparked deep debate in religious and cultural circles, raising concerns about communal harmony.
