Ranchi: All Jharkhand Student Union Party (AJSU) has announced its candidate from Dumri. AJSU gave ticket to Yashoda Devi from Dumri Assembly. In this way the third list of AJSU came in which the candidate for one seat was announced. Yashoda Devi had lost to Baby Devi, wife of former minister late Jagarnath Mahato, in the by-election held in 2023.

AJSU gave ticket to Dinesh Chandra Boypai from Manoharpur, was trying for ticket from Congress.

Who is Yashoda Devi?

Yashoda Devi is the wife of senior AJSU leader Damodar Mahato, who has deep connections with politics. Before the formation of Jharkhand state, Damodar Mahato was associated with JDU party, but later he supported AJSU. After the death of Damodar Mahato, Yashoda Devi contested the 2019 assembly elections on AJSU ticket and gave a tough competition to former minister Jagarnath Mahato. In that election, she got a total of 36,840 votes and stood second, while Jagarnath Mahato won by getting 71,128 votes. Yashoda Devi is 12th pass.

Who are the other candidates from Dumri?

Women and Child Development Minister in Jharkhand Government Baby Devi is JMM's candidate from Dumri. Whereas Jairam Mahato is contesting from this seat for the first time from his party Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha. With the entry of Yashoda Devi into the fray, the contest between Dumri has become very interesting.
