As he spoke on his YouTube channel, former Indian cricketer Akash Chopra shared his thoughts and stated that in case if Varun Chakravarthy gets picked for Champions Trophy, Ravindra Jadeja is going to be sacked off from the squad.
Speculations are forming as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is re-thinking about their best list for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy. A lot has been said about the spin bowling department of the Indian team, and it has been reported that Varun Chakravarthy is among the top players to be picked, along with doubts of Ravindra Jadeja’s place in the team.
Former Indian cricketer Akash Chopra feels that if Varun gets picked, because of his fine performance in white-ball cricket, Jadeja is definitely going to ‘go out’.
“Varun Chakravarthy is picking up wickets one after the other. He has done well in the Vijay Hazare Trophy also. He took a five-wicket haul against Rajasthan and has been continuously doing well. Since he has returned to the Indian T20I team, he has been picking up wickets every single time,” Chopra said in a video on his YouTube channel.
“The rumour market is hot, the Indian cricket atmosphere has become like that as we get a lot of source-based news and a few of them come true, that Varun Chakaravarthy could be picked for the Champions Trophy. If he gets picked, who will go out – Ravindra Jadeja. That’s what I have been hearing,” Chopra added.
The fitness of Kuldeep Yadav has seen doubts floating over his selection. As per the selection committee, Varun might be the player who will lead the spin-bowling department, with Axar Patel taking the place of Jadeja. Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, and Ravi Bishnoi are going to try and secure their place for the third spot.
