Akash Deep credits Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma for his performance in Australia
India fast bowler Akash Deep bowled well in the third Test of the five-match series in Brisbane. He was lauded by Steve Smith for his performance. The India pacer made his Test debut against England earlier this year and has been a part of 6 red-ball games. In the Gabba Test, he showed his class with the bat and took three wickets.
Akash Deep explained how Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli helped him prepare for his first tour of Australia. “This is my tour of Australia and I received some valuable inputs from Jasprit Bumrah. He told me not to get carried away by seeing help from the wickets in Australia. It helped me bowl well,” Akash Deep said.
“The fact that I and Harshit Rana didn’t look novices in Australia is because of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who were always ready with suggestions,” he added.
Akash Deep was unlucky in the 3rd Test match as he couldn’t get wickets despite beating batters several times. Steve Smith called him the standout bowler.
“Akash bowled nicely and moved the ball. I faced him for the first time and I must say he has got skills,” Smith said in Brisbane.
The lack of wickets didn’t disappoint Akash. “My job is to bowl according to a plan without thinking about the result as it is not in my hands. I will stick to discipline. It is good Australia have made one change. We have played against Sam Konstas. We want to make full use of the new ball.”
Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul were hit in the net session. Akash said that it was a part and parcel of their sport. “Getting hit is a part of our sport. Rohit Sharma is fine and there is no concern with him.”
