Just a few days before the start of the 1st Test between India and Bangladesh in Chennai, Virat Kohli came up with a wholesome gesture for pacer Akash Deep as he gifted his bat to him. The youngster revealed the story behind the spectacular moment and revealed that Kohli himself gave his bat to him.
Akash revealed that Kohli asked him if he needed a bat. Though he stated that he would never play with his bat and never use it as a souvenir.
“Virat bhaiya had told me himself [Virat bhaiya himself gave me the bat]. He must have observed something about my batting. I didn’t ask for it; he came to me and asked, ‘Bat chaiye kya tujhe?’ Who wouldn’t want a bat from Virat bhaiya? He is a legend. I was very happy to hear his words and wanted that bat. He asked me what kind of bat I use while batting, and I just smiled—I didn’t have words,” said Akash Deep
He then further added, “I will never play with that bat. It is a gift from Virat bhaiya, and I will keep it as a souvenir on the wall of my room. I even got his autograph on the bat.”
