Akhilesh Yadav’s taunt on Yogi government – Ayodhya railway station example of BJP’s ‘corrupt model’

Lucknow 15 February. Samajwadi Party (SP) National President Akhilesh Yadav has taken a dig at the government’s plan to develop Kannauj Railway Station on the lines of Gorakhpur Railway Station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme in Kannauj. Akhilesh Yadav taunted through social media and said that the railway station built in Ayodhya is an example of BJP’s ‘corrupt model’.

On Sunday, Akhilesh Yadav said that the government should ensure quality in construction works. He said sarcastically that the water tank, which collapses as soon as it is built, should be built at a distance, the roof should be such that people standing below do not have to use umbrellas and the layer of the approach road should not be uprooted. He also said that if lifts and escalators are installed then they should also work properly.

The SP President also raised questions on commissioneering and said that there should be transparency in the construction works and the waiting area should be made really convenient for the passengers, because sometimes there are long delays in trains. He also demanded improvement in parking system and condition of toilets. Akhilesh Yadav sarcastically said that the contractor should be local, so that responsibility can be fixed. He alleged that the quality of construction works is not being paid attention to under the BJP government.

It is noteworthy that an incident of collapse of a wall was reported in Ayodhya railway station premises, after which questions were raised regarding the quality of construction. Regarding this, the Fact Check unit of Press Information Bureau (PIB) had denied the news circulating on social media about the collapse of the boundary wall at the newly inaugurated Ayodhya Dham railway station. According to PIB, the collapsed wall was not part of the structure of the new station, but belonged to the old station area. PIB clarified that the wall had collapsed due to excavation being done by a private person and waterlogging in a nearby private area.
