Alert for PNB customers: If KYC is not done, account may be closed from April 16

Pnb account: If your account is in Punjab National Bank (PNB), then this news is very important for you. The bank has warned its customers that some accounts may be closed. However, this rule will not apply to all customers, but will only affect those accounts which have not been in use for a long time.

Which accounts are at risk?

According to PNB, those bank accounts in which no transaction has taken place in the last 3 years and whose balance is also zero, will have to get their KYC updated immediately. If such customers do not complete their KYC by April 15, 2026, their accounts may be closed from April 16, 2026.

What is an inactive account?

As per Reserve Bank of India (RBI) rules, an account in which there are no customer-induced transactions for more than 2 years is considered an “Inoperative Account”. To reactivate such accounts, it is necessary to complete the KYC process.

What should customers do?

If you have an account with PNB and there has been no transaction in it for a long time, then do not delay. Go to your nearest bank branch and get your KYC updated along with the necessary documents. By doing this your account will remain safe and will be saved from closure.
