Alert in India amid US-Iran confrontation, Union Home Ministry sent letter to all states and union territories
Amidst the increasing military tension between Iran and America, the Indian government has instructed security agencies and states across the country to remain alert. The Union Home Ministry has sent an official letter to all the states and union territories asking them to be alert about possible communal tension and law and order risks.
Home Ministry advisory
This step has been taken at a time when protests were seen in some cities of India after the death of Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. In this advisory issued on February 28, the Home Ministry made it clear that the events happening abroad can have an impact inside India as well. There is a need to keep strict vigil especially on speeches given in religious meetings, processions and public programs.
The ministry said that in such circumstances, inflammatory statements or rumors can increase social tension. Therefore, intelligence agencies and local administration have been instructed to maintain mutual coordination and share any sensitive information immediately. It has also been said in the advisory that the activities of some preachers or organizations giving statements in support of Iran should be monitored, so that no person or group can try to spoil the atmosphere.
Security agencies are worried that some anti-social or extremist elements may take advantage of international developments and create tension at the local level. For this reason, the administration has been instructed to exercise special caution and keep a constant eye on the situation.
The situation is very tense at the international level
Meanwhile, the situation at the international level also remains very tense. US President Donald Trump has indicated that he is ready for talks with the new leadership of Iran. He said in an interview that if Iran wants to talk, America is ready for it. However, this proposal has been strictly rejected by Iran. Iran’s senior security official Ali Larijani said in clear words that his country will not hold any kind of talks with America.
After Khamenei’s death, many military bases of Iran have been attacked by America and Israel. Ballistic missile bases and warships were targeted in these attacks. According to Iranian officials, many senior leaders including Khamenei and more than 200 people have died in these military actions.
The Government of India is keeping a close watch on this entire incident. The Home Ministry believes that timely vigilance and security measures are necessary to ensure that international tension does not affect the social environment of the country. For this purpose, instructions have been given to the states to remain alert and prepared to deal with any possible situation, so that peace and law and order are maintained in the country.
