Alert regarding Hanta virus in India, ICMR activated 165 labs; Concern increased due to spread of infection on cruise ship
Now India has also become completely alert regarding Hanta virus, which has become a cause of concern all over the world. The Government of India and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) have issued a high alert after reports of several deaths and several passengers getting infected due to Hantavirus infection on an international cruise ship. In view of this potential threat, 165 labs across the country have been activated, so that any suspicious case can be investigated immediately.
According to the information, an outbreak of Hanta virus occurred on a cruise ship named MV Hodians. The infection was confirmed among many passengers and crew members present on the ship, after which concern increased at the international level. Two Indian citizens were also present on this ship, due to which India’s concern has increased further.
However, it is a matter of relief that no case of Hanta virus has been reported in India so far. But considering the global situation, the Indian government has started taking precautionary measures. Both the Indian citizens have been sent to the Netherlands under health safety protocols, where they have been kept in quarantine. At present, no symptoms of infection have been found in him, but he will be medically monitored for the next 45 days.
According to experts, Hanta virus is mainly spread through contact with infected rats or their feces and urine. Generally this virus does not spread from one person to another, but a dangerous type of virus called Andes strain can spread infection among humans. In view of this possibility, the World Health Organization (WHO) has also advised countries around the world to remain alert.
ICMR in India has started special monitoring and research regarding this virus. 165 ICMR laboratories across the country have been activated, where suspected patients will be examined. The Health Department has also instructed hospitals and medical institutions to remain alert.
Health experts say that people do not need to panic, but caution is very important. It is especially important to maintain cleanliness in such places where the presence of rats is high. It has been advised to avoid contact with infected animals and take care of hygiene.
Scientists believe that due to increased global travel and international contact, the threat of any virus can spread rapidly. In such a situation, it becomes extremely important to strengthen the monitoring and investigation system in time. Activation of 165 labs by India is being considered a big step in this direction.
Experts are also saying that after the Covid-19 pandemic, the world has become more cautious than before and now immediate action is being taken against any new virus. India’s health agencies will continue to monitor the situation in the coming days and additional steps may be taken if necessary.
