Crowd gathered at the last journey of Ali Khamenei, Iran became emotional after seeing the small coffin of 14 month old granddaughter

Ali Khamenei last visit: The funeral rituals for Iran’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei officially began in the capital Tehran on Saturday. Lakhs of people took to the streets to pay their last respects to their 86-year-old leader. There was an atmosphere of mourning and anger in Iran, while at many places people also raised slogans against America and Israel.

Small coffin of 14 month old granddaughter becomes center of sentiment

The most emotional scene during the last journey unfolded when the coffins of Ali Khamenei’s deceased family members were also placed along with his coffin. These included the small coffin of his only 14-month old granddaughter, seeing which many people present there could not control their emotions. Khamenei’s coffin was draped in the national flag of the Islamic Republic and his trademark black turban was placed on top. This scene turned the entire campus into a sad atmosphere.

The last journey will last for six days

Ali Khamenei’s mortal remains reached Tehran on Friday. After this, public funeral ceremonies have been planned for six days in various cities of Iran and neighboring Iraq. Officials estimate that in Tehran alone, 15 to 20 million people may arrive to pay their last respects during the next three days.

Slogans of ‘Down with America’ and ‘Vengeance’ echoed

As soon as the gates of Tehran’s Grand Mossala opened to the public on Saturday, thousands of mourners flocked to the complex. Red banners appeared in people’s hands, which are considered a symbol of vengeance. During this, the crowd also raised slogans of ‘Down with America’ and ‘Pratishod, Pratisodh’. A 27-year-old youth attending the funeral procession emotionally told the news agency Associated Press that he has come to bid farewell to his beloved leader. I never imagined that I would see this day. I wish I had died before seeing this tragedy.

The eyes of top leaders also became moist

Many senior Iranian officials were present in the last tribute program. Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf, who played a major role in the talks with America, also appeared emotional. At the same time, many other senior officials also expressed their grief while paying tribute to Ali Khamenei.
