‘Live & let live’: Alia SLAMS ‘botched surgery’ claims – challenges beauty standards

New Delhi: Alia Bhatt made her Bollywood debut at a pretty young age. Since the beginning, Alia was praised for her ‘natural’ and ‘young’ beauty. However, just like tales as old as time, as the actress began ageing, she faced quite a lot of criticism for her looks. Well, it seems like Alia Bhatt finally reached breaking point as she penned a long note addressing the criticism and false claims against her.

Taking to her Instagram story, Alia Bhatt spoke about a viral video which claims that the actress has had a botched botox surgery. Not only this, the video goes on to diagnose the actress with facial paralysis. You read that right! Here is what the actress had to say about this demeaning meme.

Alia Bhatt slams ‘botox gone wrong’ claims

Alia Bhatt questioned the content of the viral video and reminded them that her ‘crooked smile’ or a ‘weird way of speaking’ is a personal opinion. However, when netizens try to back their claims up with “scientific” clarifications. The actress angrily wrote, “These are SERIOUS claims being casually thrown out there with zero proof, no confirmation, and absolutely nothing to back it up.” Alia further questions the potential impact such claims might have on young and impressionable minds.

Did Alia Bhatt condemn Deepika Padukone’s ‘fake baby’ rumours?

She condemns the use of such false narratives for attention and click-bait videos. Next, Alia gives her take on the ridiculously high beauty standards for women in the country and across the world. She addressed the ‘absurd lens’ through which women are judged. ” – our faces, bodies, personal lives and even our bumps (!!!) are up for critique.” this statement not only highlights the unattainable beauty standards but also the criticism women in the entertainment space face on the regular. The comment on baby bumps might be in regard to the ridiculous rumour that claimed that Deepika Padukone faked her baby bump for attention and had her first child via surrogacy.
