Veteran playback singer Alka Yagnik has reassured fans that she is recovering well after a video showing her in a wheelchair at the Padma Bhushan investiture ceremony went viral, sparking widespread concern about her health.

The celebrated singer clarified that she was “simply fatigued” after attending the ceremony and requested fans not to draw conclusions about her condition from the video.

Alka Yagnik, who has been away from public life after revealing that she was diagnosed with a rare sensorineural hearing disorder in 2024, attended the Padma Awards ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan to personally receive the Padma Bhushan from President Droupadi Murmu.

Addressing the speculation surrounding the wheelchair video, the singer said she was only exhausted after the event and expressed gratitude for the concern and good wishes she received from fans.

She also thanked President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the honour bestowed upon her.

The Padma Bhushan marks another milestone in Alka Yagnik’s illustrious career spanning over four decades. The veteran singer described receiving the award in person as an emotional and unforgettable experience despite the health challenges she has been facing.
