History of Coorg Style Sarees

There is also a special history behind this method. In the Kodagu region of Karnataka, women used to do farming and other work in hilly areas. Therefore, this special method of wearing the saree was developed so that it does not interfere with the working of the saree. By bringing the layers from back to front, the saree stays in place and becomes comfortable while working.
