All is not well between Gautam Gambhir and Ajit Agarkar as head coach wants Yashasvi Jaiswal to lead India

Rohit Sharma will not continue for a long time as his performances have gone down, and the selectors are exploring new ways of improving the team’s performances. Rohit is likely to announce retirement after the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan and Dubai.

According to a report by Dainik Jagran, all is not well between head coach Gautam Gambhir and Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee regarding the team’s new skipper.

Rohit has told the selectors to find his successor, and he will support their decision. Rohit will continue till the ICC tournament. During a review meeting, the possibility of Jasprit Bumrah replacing Rohit was discussed, and the need for a strong vice-captain was also highlighted. The selectors are in favour of Rishabh Pant, but Gambhir is backing Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Pant has led India in the past, but Jaiswal has no captaincy experience. Suryakumar Yadav is leading the Men in Blue in T20Is, but he doesn’t feature in the fifty-over format, and there is no possibility of him getting the captain’s armband in one-day internationals.

Bumrah is the strong contender to lead the team in Test cricket and ODIs but the selectors will have to pick a vice-captain, who can take over as skipper when Bumrah is rested or is not fit.
