All-Round Masterclass from Will Jacks Powers England Past New Zealand

An all-rounder performance from Will Jacks set up England’s 4-wicket victory against New Zealand in the T20 World Cup 2026 game played on February 27 at Colombo.

His 2-wicket haul and 32* run knock guided England to go past New Zealand in Friday’s clash and will be topping the Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 group 2 points table.

This win leaves Pakistan with another shot at making their qualification for the semifinals.

After choosing to bat first, New Zealand’s Tim Seifert and Finn Allen opened the innings while Jofra Archer opened the bowling attack. The duo made a decent knock, adding 54 runs to the scoreboard in the powerplay.

Adil Rashid got the first breakthrough, dismissing Tim Seifert for 35 runs. Soon, New Zealand lost their second wicket, dismissing Finn Allen for 29 runs.

With Rachin Ravindra‘s dismissal for 11 runs, New Zealand went on to lose three wickets for 97 runs.

New Zealand went on to crumble as they went on to lose wickets at regular intervals. Adil Rashid bagged his second wicket by dismissing Mark Chapman and Daryl Mitchell, with a cheap dismissal for 3 runs. New Zealand went on to score 133 runs for five wickets.

Glenn Phillips, who added 39 runs off 28 deliveries godt dismissed by Will Jacks. Cole McConchie added 14 runs before being dismissed by Rehan Ahmed.

With Mitchell Santner and Matth Henry at the crease, New Zealand went on to score 159 runs in their 20-over innings.

Rehan Ahmed, Adil Rashid and Will Jacks bagged two wickets each while Liam Dawson completed his spell with one wicket tally.

Chasing 160 run target, Phil Salt and Jos Buttler opened the innings for England while Matt Henry opened the bowling attack.

With Phil Salt’s dismissal for 2 runs by Matt Henry, Jos Buttler got dismissed for a duck by Lockie Ferguson.

Although Harry Brook and Jacob Bethell made some contributions of 26 and 21 runs, they got dismissed by Glenn Phillips and Rachin Ravindra.

With the dismissal of Sam Curran and Tom Banton for 24 and 33 runs respectively, England was down to the last four wickets.

Will Jacks and Rehan Ahmed took the chase on hand as they completed the chase. Will Jacks made a small cameo with 32* runs along with Rehan Ahmed who scored 19* runs to complete the chase.

Rachin Ravindra bagged three wickets while Matt Henry, Lockie Ferguson and Glenn Phillips bagged one wicket each.
