People living in the national capital Delhi are facing the double blow of severe cold and fog for the last several days. In such a situation, school holidays were announced earlier also. Once again the Directorate of Education in Delhi has issued an announcement regarding closure of schools. Children from nursery to 8th class have been given leave so that they can be protected from the cold wave. This order will be applicable to all government and non-government schools. At present, an order has been issued to keep schools closed till January 15. In Noida and Greater Noida also, schools from nursery to 8th have been closed till January 15.
The situation in Delhi NCR is miserable due to severe cold and fog. The Meteorological Department in Delhi has issued a cold wave alert for the next few days. On the other hand, the risk of school vehicles getting into accidents has increased due to fog. For these reasons Directorate of Education has decided to close the schools from Nursery to 8th and has extended the winter vacations.

Many parents of Delhi are expressing their displeasure on social media that despite the government’s order, some private schools are planning to start classes. However, the government has clarified that schools from nursery to 8th will remain closed till January 15. They are appealing to the government to intervene against the schools against which parents are protesting. Parents say that children are at risk of increasing complaints like respiratory disease, cold and cough due to morning cold.
What are the rules from 9th to 12th?
The Directorate of Education has completely closed classes from nursery to 8th. Whereas this rule is not for students and schools from 9th to 12th. Schools from 9th to 12th can be opened with some concessions. However, after this order, in view of the board exams of some schools, emphasis has been laid on the option of online classes. Such orders have been issued in view of the severe cold in some districts of Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.
