Allegation of drone attack on Putin’s residence, India expressed concern
The ongoing tension between Russia and Ukraine has increased once again. Russia has alleged that Ukraine tried to target President Vladimir Putin’s residence in the Novgorod region, west of Moscow, on the night of December 28 and 29. According to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, 91 long-range drones were used in this attack, which were shot down by Russian defense systems. Russia claims that no one was injured in this incident and there was no damage.

Expressing concern over this development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the news of targeting the residence of the Russian President is extremely worrying. They stressed the need to continue ongoing diplomatic efforts toward peace and appealed to all parties to avoid steps that could undermine these efforts.
Russia’s Foreign Minister described the alleged attack as “state-sponsored terrorism” and said such steps would be responded to. He also said that the Russian military has selected targets for retaliation, but Russia has not presented any concrete evidence to support its allegations.
Ukraine has rejected Russia’s allegations, calling them false and an attempt to derail peace talks. Ukraine says that Russia is trying to avoid international pressure through such claims.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said that Putin informed him about this alleged attack over the phone and said that he is angry with this attack, but still expressed hope that a peace agreement can be reached between Russia and Ukraine soon.
