Allegation of converting the park into a party lawn in Nizamuddin West, High Court notice to Delhi Government including DDA and MCD, know what is the matter?

A case of conversion of a public park into a party lawn and its alleged commercial misuse has come to light in Nizamuddin West area of ​​Delhi. A petition has been filed in this regard in the Delhi High Court. Hearing the petition, Delhi High Court has issued notice to Delhi Government, Delhi Development Authority (DDA), Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD) and Nizamuddin West Association and sought their response.

In the petition, Nizamuddin West Resident Welfare Association (RWA) has been accused of illegally occupying the public park and using it illegally. Hearing the case, a bench of Justice Mini Pushkarna said that the petition has sought directions to the respondents to take appropriate action against Nizamuddin West Association/RWA.

The petition alleged that a public park located near Nizamuddin West Community Center has been encroached upon and converted into a party lawn, where weddings, parties and other commercial events are being organised, even though the park is meant for the use of the general public. Hearing the case, a bench of Justice Mini Pushkarna has issued notices to all the defendants and directed them to file their replies within four weeks.

85 year old man filed petition

The petition has been filed by 85-year-old senior citizen Shiraz Parveen, who is a permanent resident of Nizamuddin West. The petitioner says that he complained several times to the concerned departments regarding the alleged encroachment and commercial activities taking place in the public park, but no action was taken. It has been said in the petition that due to his old age, he faces serious problems due to the events going on till late night, due to which he was forced to take the help of the court.

The petition alleged that loud music, use of firecrackers, illegal parking, accumulation of garbage and alleged illegal construction are taking place in the park, causing serious health and environmental problems to the petitioner and his family. The petitioner said that he is suffering from high blood pressure, kidney disease, hyperthyroidism and heart disease. Due to these late night activities in the park, their problems have increased manifold.
