Allu Arjun reacts to CM Revanth Reddy’s allegations, calls it ‘character assasination’

After Telangana CM Revanth Reddy criticised Allu Arjun for his improper conduct on Saturday, deeming him accountable for the Sandhya theatre stampede that occurred on December 4, the Pushpa 2 actor held a press conference at his residence on Saturday to issue a clarification from his end.

Addressing the media, Allu Arjun expressed his disappointment at the ‘wrong allegations’ made against him and about his role in the said stampede. The actor stated, “It’s an unfortunate accident, but nobody is to be blamed. I am not here to blame any individual or government. Infact, the government has been supportive to film industry in many ways, including granting price hike for our movies. However, there has been a lot of misinformation, misquotations, false information, and allegations. It is extremely humiliating, and feels like character assasination.”

Talking further about the events at Pushpa 2 premiere on December 4, Allu Arjun clarified that opposed to the allegations made against him, the police personnel were indeed helping and his team reach the venue. “If we didn’t have permissions, they wouldn’t be clearing the way for us and helping us get in,” Arjun said. He also clarified that the reason he waved to his audience was to help them clear the way. “I was told by my team that when I wave my hands, they are more likely to pay heed and clear the path,” he added.

The Pushpa 2 actor denied any accusations of conducting a ‘road show,’ or of being informed by the police about the deceased woman or chaos outside the theatre, as claimed by Telangana CM. He added, “Who we heard from was the theatre management team, who gently requested us to leave after telling us it was over-crowded outside. And we all left a little while after the film began.”

Allu Arjun also explained his reasons for not visiting the grieving family, or visiting the hospital, stating that once the family registereda a case against him, the actor was advised by his legal team not to pay visit to anyone from the family and hence asked his associates from Pushpa 2 team to do so. Recalling instances when he met fans of other actors who had been in similar accidents, Arjun stated, “Wouldn’t someone like me want to meet one of my fans who is going through a tough time? I didn’t meet only because I am legally tied; I can’t go.”

The actor concluded his statement saying, “I am not against any individual, but I am here to put my foot down, and say with utmost humility, ‘No. I am not done those things I am alleged of. I have not said anything like that. It is purely false.’”
