What is this happening? Threat to blow up Almora court with RDX for the second time in 72 hours, panic in police department
Uttarakhand The series of threats to bomb courts is not stopping. On Thursday, once again there was a stir in the police department after receiving an e-mail threatening to blow up the Almora court using RDX. Due to the second threat within three days, an atmosphere of chaos was created in the court premises and panic was seen among the judge, employees and advocates. As soon as information about the threat was received, police and expert security team immediately reached the spot and an intensive investigation operation was conducted in the entire court premises.
A thorough search of all the chambers, court rooms, vehicles and surrounding areas of the court premises was conducted. Suspicious objects were examined closely, however no explosive material was recovered.
Police have started technical investigation of the e-mail and with the help of cyber experts the sender of the threat is being identified. Besides, security has been tightened by deploying additional police forces in the court premises. Police have installed metal detectors at all the entrances of the District Court. The number of police forces has been increased and every person coming and going on the premises is being searched extensively. Outsiders are also being interrogated. The officials inspected the court premises and took stock of the security arrangements.
When had you received any threat before this?
Earlier on Tuesday (February 17), Almora Court had also received a bomb threat, after which a mock drill was organized by the security agencies to make the employees and advocates aware to deal with the emergency. The administration’s concern regarding security arrangements has increased due to continuous threats.
What did the SSP say?
SSP Chandrashekhar R. Ghodke confirmed this and said that once again a threatening e-mail has been received in the court. The entire matter is being investigated and necessary action will be taken.
Why the continuous threat of blowing up the court for four days?
Such threatening e-mails have been coming for the last four days. Earlier, Nainital, Uttarkashi, Tehri and Rudraprayag district courts had also received threatening e-mails, although no suspicious object was found anywhere during the search.
