Alzarri Joseph faces two-match suspension after on-field argument with Shai Hope

New Delhi: West Indies pacer Alzarri Joseph has been suspended for two matches for storming off the field after an on-field argument with captain Shai Hope during the third ODI match between West Indies and England at Kensington Oval on Thursday.

Joseph was unhappy with the field settings and showed his disappointment. He dismissed Jordan Cox on 1 run with a fiery bouncer and then walked off the field. West Indies won the match and the series by 2-1 but the incident overshadowed the celebration.

The Cricket West Indies released a statement on November 8, Friday revealing that Joseph has been handed a 2-match suspension and the incident was reviewed in consultation with the senior team coaching staff.

“Cricket West Indies (CWI) has imposed a two-match suspension on fast bowler Alzarri Joseph following an on-field incident during the 3rd CG United ODI at the Kensington Oval, Barbados. As part of CWI’s ongoing commitment to upholding the highest levels of professionalism and integrity in the game, the incident, which involved conduct falling short of CWI’s standards of professionalism, was reviewed in consultation with the Senior Men’s coaching staff” read the statement.
