Alzarri Joseph gets involved in a heated argument with Skipper Shai Hope

Alzarri Joseph, the star West Indies pacer, was seen losing his temper and exiting the cricket pitch after arguing with his team captain, Shai Hope, over the field position. This took place in the third ODI match of the series between the West Indies and England, which was hosted at the Kensington Oval, Barbados. Joseph was not satisfied with the field that Hope set for him.

Earlier before the start of the fourth over of the innings, he was spotted gesturing at the two slips who were covering for the England number three batsman, Jordan Cox. He dismissed Cox for a single off six balls on the fourth delivery of the over but did not appear to be in a celebrating mood instead he was locked in a furious exchange with Hope.

After finishing an over during which he took a wicket without conceding any runs, Joseph stunned everyone by walking off the field. The home team played with just 10 players for a single over, but then when Hayden Walsh Jr. was spotted putting away his bib to come on, Joseph simply left the dugout before coming back in the next over.

Mark Butcher, a former England cricketer, who was commentating during the event, condemned Joseph’s actions.

“For no captain or player, for that matter, does disagreement on any matter on the field come as a surprise. These tend to be resolved out of sight or one simply gets on with the business like a professional. A captain gives you a field and asks you to bowl, so you wouldn’t appreciate any inappropriate dismissive remarks,” Butcher was heard saying.

Joseph wrapped the match with 2 for 45 in 10 overs.

Upon conclusion of his over which included one wicket but no runs conceded, Joseph walked off the field, much to the amazement of the crowd. The hosts managed to play with only ten players for an over, however, after some time, when substitute Hayden Walsh Jr. was spotted taking off his bib to enter the field, Joseph headed towards the dugout and came back only after the end of the next over.
