  • Appeal to unregistered devotees to stop
  • 24 hours medical system ready

Amarnath yatra 2026 latest update today : Holy Amarnath Yatra 2026 (Amarnath Yatra) started, the enthusiasm of Shiva devotees across the country has reached its peak. Chants of ‘Bam Bam Bhole’ and ‘Baba Barfani ki Jai’ have echoed across the snowy slopes of Kashmir. As many as 56,961 devotees have taken darshan of Baba Barfani in the first three days of this holy pilgrimage which started on 3rd July. The number of devotees reached a record high on the third day of the yatra, Sunday, when 24,648 pilgrims visited the Shivalinga in the holy cave. In the first two days, the figure was 32,313. Fortunately, the weather has cooperated very well and the travel on both the Baltal and Pahalgam routes is going on very smoothly.

But, this unprecedented rush has now created a new problem. As the number of devotees coming from all over the country is more than the estimate of the administration, the Amarnath base camp is getting crowded. The administration has consistently urged pilgrims to come for the pilgrimage only on their scheduled and approved dates. Despite this, thousands of devotees are arriving at both the base camps even before the date. The administration has now started taking some strict steps to control the growing crowd.

Big decision of administration for unregistered devotees

Due to the huge influx of pilgrims, all the official registration slots till 9th July have been fully booked. In view of this situation, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has earnestly appealed to pilgrims who are not yet registered or unregistered to postpone their journey for a few days. Officials have announced that only pilgrims with valid registrations are being allowed to travel towards Kashmir from Sunday. Devotees who do not have registration are being stopped at fixed checkpoints till new quota or slots are available.

Due to this decision, long queues are currently being seen at the registration centers in Jammu city. The official registration and token distribution centers located at Old Mandi and Geeta Bhavan, near the Ram Mandir, on the banks of river Tavi, have been thronged by devotees since morning. Since Monday morning, there were pictures of kilometers long queues of pilgrims in front of the counter. The administration has made fresh registration of around 5,000 unregistered pilgrims for various dates as a matter of urgency, so that law and order problem does not arise. This long journey of 57 days will conclude on the festival days of Shravan Poornima and Raksha Bandhan.
