There was an uproar over Amit Shah's statement on Ambedkar, now TMC has given a notice of breach of privilege.

New Delhi: TMC MP Derek O'Brien has given a notice of breach of privilege against Shah over his remarks regarding Ambedkar. Trinamool Congress leader in Rajya Sabha Derek O'Brien on Wednesday gave this notice against the Home Minister for his remarks regarding BR Ambedkar. A source gave this information.

According to the source, this notice has been filed under Rule 187 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business of Rajya Sabha. The notice also cites the statement given by the Home Minister while replying to the two-day discussion on '75 years of glorious journey of the Constitution of India' in the Upper House on Tuesday.

What did Amit Shah say?

Taking a dig at the opposition, Shah had said, “It has become a fashion now – Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar.” If you had taken this much name of God, you would have gone to heaven for seven births.”

PM Modi also tweeted

Now PM Modi took on Congress by posting three posts on social media one after the other. The Prime Minister wrote that “In Parliament, Home Minister @AmitShah ji exposed Congress's dark history of insulting Dr. Ambedkar and ignoring SC/ST communities. They are clearly hurt and shocked by the facts presented by him, which is why they are dramatizing now!

He further wrote that “It is sad for them that the public knows the truth! If the Congress and its rotten machinery think that their malicious lies can hide their misdeeds over the years, especially their disrespect towards Dr. Ambedkar, then they are sorely mistaken! The people of India have seen time and again how a party led by a dynasty has played every possible dirty trick to erase the legacy of Dr. Ambedkar and humiliate the SC/ST communities.
