Ameesha Patel Denies Charges In Warrant Case, Vows Legal Action Against Complainant
Mumbai: After reports of a non-bailable warrant against her started doing the rounds, actress Ameesha Patel took to her social media handle to deny the charges, calling them fabricated and misleading.
Stating that the matter is very old and was settled years ago, Ameesha vowed legal action against complainant Pawan Verma, a Moradabad-based event organiser.
Taking to her official Instagram handle on Tuesday, Ameesha wrote: “Media reports suggest about certain proceedings at Moradabad by one Pawan Verma. I wish to inform one and all that this is a v v old matter which was years back in which the said Pawan Verma had signed a settlement deed and received the entire agreed amount. Despite this it seems he has lodged proceedings making false allegations. My lawyers are initiating appropriate criminal proceedings of cheating against this person to expose his lies while I prefer to focus on my work and ignore people who choose to make a public spectacle for gaining attention on false pretexts.”
The matter dates back to November 2017, when Ameesha was hired by Pawan to perform at a wedding.
The actress was paid an advance of Rs14.50 lakh for her performance.
However, Ameesha reportedly failed to show up for the event and was asked to refund the advance.
The actress reportedly returned Rs 10 lakh in cash and a cheque for the remaining amount, worth Rs 4.5 lakh, bounced.
After Ameesha failed to appear before the Moradabad court despite repeated summons, a non-bailable warrant has been issued against the actress, which could lead to her arrest.
