The situation in Iran is deteriorating rapidly and America has come into full alert mode. Amidst the continuous violent protests and strict government action, America has instructed its citizens to leave Iran immediately. The situation seems to be such that US President Donald Trump may adopt a very aggressive stance towards Iran.
The US State Department issued an emergency security alert on Monday, January 12, 2026. In this, all American citizens present in Iran have been asked to leave the country without delay. America says that the security situation in Iran has become very bad and the situation can worsen any time.
Large-scale protests have been going on in many cities of Iran for the last two weeks. Security forces have taken strict action to crush these demonstrations. According to reports, more than 500 people have lost their lives so far and thousands of protesters have been detained.
The US government has warned that especially people having dual citizenship (US-Iran) are in serious danger. The government of Iran does not recognize dual citizenship and strict laws can be implemented by treating such people as full Iranian citizens. Arrest can be made on the basis of American passport or any evidence related to America.
The Iranian government has shut down internet and mobile networks across the country to prevent protests. Due to this the communication system has come to a complete standstill. Human rights organization Amnesty International says this step is an attempt to hide the actions of security forces and human rights violations.
Due to the turbulent situation, many international airlines have canceled flights to Iran. Lufthansa, Emirates, Turkish Airlines and Qatar Airways have limited their services until January 16. Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport has become almost isolated, making it extremely difficult for people to get out.
The US has asked its citizens to try to leave Iran by road towards Armenia or Turkey if air travel is not possible. However, there remain security risks in this too.
There is no US embassy in Iran. In such a situation, it is almost impossible for American citizens in crisis to get government help. For this reason, America has appealed to leave the country in time.
US President Donald Trump has taken a tough stance regarding the action being taken against protesters in Iran. The White House has indicated that if Iran crosses America’s ‘red line’, military action will not be ruled out. The Trump administration has advised its citizens to stay away from demonstrations, take shelter in a safe place and keep essential food items with them.
