America did not give any information on the allegations against Adani Group: Foreign Ministry revealed
MEA Clarification On Adani Group: The Ministry of External Affairs has made a shocking revelation regarding the allegations of bribery and fraud in America against Adani Group company Adani Green Energy. Also the US Justice Department alleged that the rules have been violated.
While addressing the press conference, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that the Indian government has not been given any instructions or information from the US regarding Adani. America itself did not follow the rules of informing that country before submitting this complaint letter. This is a legal matter involving private companies, individuals, and the US Department of Justice. There are established procedures and legal avenues in this matter. Which has to be followed. No prior information was given to the Government of India on this issue.
Do not seek help even in summons or warrants
Randhir Jaiswal said, “A request by a foreign government to serve a summons or arrest warrant is part of mutual legal assistance in that country. But America has not made any such request. An investigation is conducted based on this request.”
We are not part of the legal profession
It further said, 'The Ministry of External Affairs has not received any warrant or complaint against Adani Group for allegations of bribery and fraud. This is a matter that concerns private individuals and private institutions. Therefore, the Government of India is not legally a part of it in any way at present. We are looking at this as a matter between the US Justice Department and private individuals and organizations.
The US Justice Department last week charged Adani and others with allegedly paying $250 million in bribes to Indian officials to win solar power contracts and allegedly raising funds from investors in the US.
