New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs has rejected reports of veteran businessman Elon Musk’s participation in the phone conversation between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump on Tuesday regarding the Iran war. The ministry clarified that this conversation took place only between PM Modi and Trump.
External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “We have seen this news. The telephone conversation on March 24 was only between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Donald Trump. This conversation provided an opportunity to exchange views on the situation in West Asia.”

The news of Musk’s involvement is wrong
Some international media outlets, notably the New York Times, quoted US officials as claiming that Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk was also present at the talks. The newspaper also said that it was not clear whether Musk played any role in the talks or made any statements. However, MEA completely rejected this and stated that Musk was not involved in any such meeting.
This claim in the American media came in the background of the Trump-Musk rift that happened last year. According to the information, there were differences between Trump and Musk when Musk raised objections regarding some government schemes and the number of employees. Due to this, confusion spread in some reports regarding Musk’s presence. MEA made it clear that only two national leaders took part in the talks on Iran.
PM Modi shared the highlights of the conversation
After the phone conversation, PM Modi shared the outline of the conversation on X (formerly Twitter). He reported that the two leaders:
- Emphasizes the need for open and safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz
- Reiterated India’s stance to reduce tension and maintain peace in the region.
- Underlined the importance of bilateral cooperation and dialogue
Modi said that India has always been in favor of peace and stability and this dialogue strengthens this objective.
