America stopped visa services in Pakistan after the embassy attack

Islamabad : The US has suspended all visa and American citizen services at its embassy in Islamabad and consuls in Karachi and Lahore following protests and security concerns in several cities of Pakistan in the wake of the war triggered by US and Israel attacks on Iran. The US Mission in Pakistan said in a security alert issued on March 1 that it was monitoring the ongoing protests at the consulates in Lahore and Karachi.

It is also appealing for more protests outside the US Embassy in Islamabad and the Consulate in Peshawar. It said that US government employees have been asked to reduce their activity until further notice. In the alert, American citizens in Pakistan have been advised to keep an eye on local news, avoid large crowds, and take care of their surroundings.

The mission said all functions for March 2 have been canceled due to protests around diplomatic places in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad. The warning comes after protests erupted across Pakistan following the killing of Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in a US strike. At least 23 protesters were killed in clashes across the country, including 10 in Karachi, 11 in Skardu and two in Islamabad.
