America will use these deadly weapons on Iran. If there is a war, what will be the target?
US and Iran Tension: There were signs of easing of tension between Iran and America on Thursday. US President Donald Trump said that Iran has postponed plans to execute protesters. At the same time, a minister from Tehran has said that the protesters will not be hanged. But, still the possibility of US attack in Iran cannot be ruled out. If America attacks Iran, what will be its target? What weapons can US forces use? According to CNN report, America’s biggest challenge is to attack Iran’s government and army without targeting the common people.
Peter Layton, a visiting fellow at Australia’s Griffith Asia Institute, reiterated the caution about possible civilian casualties. He has said that attacking the houses and offices of the leaders will send a message. The Iranian leadership and the IRGC have a variety of commercial businesses and money-making enterprises throughout the country. Attack specific facilities that are economically important to common people and their families.
America can use these weapons
Analysts say B-2 bombers were at the forefront of a US attack on nuclear targets in June 2025. The circumstances are different now. America’s other weapons may be more accurate. Regional IRGC headquarters and bases can be attacked with (Tomahawk missile) cruise missiles.
How does a Tomahawk fire?
The highly accurate Tomahawk missiles can be fired from U.S. Navy submarines and surface ships far away from Iranian shores.
Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile
Another cruise missile option is the Joint Air to Surface Standoff Missile (JASSM). Carrying a 453 kg warhead and a range of 1000 km, JASSM can be fired from multiple US Air Force jets (F-15, F-16, F-35 fighters and B-1, B-2, B-52 bombers, F/A-18 fighters) from a distance away from the Iranian coast.

Drones can also be used
Analysts say drones can also be used. Layton said that crewed aircraft are less likely to drop short-range weapons or free-fall bombs, as that would be considered too risky.
