America worried about drone threat: Preparations to install laser defense system in Washington

Iran crisis: Amidst the increasing tension with Iran, America itself has now become alert about possible drone attacks. According to reports, the Pentagon is considering deploying an anti-drone laser system near an important military area in Washington. This is the same area where US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Foreign Minister Marco Rubio live.

Concern increased due to suspicious drone activity

It is being told that recently some suspicious drones were seen in the airspace of this area, after which the security agencies have been alerted. Due to this, the US Army is planning to deploy a laser system named LOCUST around Fort Lesley J. McNair. It is believed that this system is capable of disabling the drone in the air itself.

FAA expresses safety concerns

However, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has expressed concern about this plan. He says that such laser systems can pose a threat to planes and pilots flying in busy airspace. The special thing is that this area is just a few kilometers away from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, where a large number of flights take place every day. In such a situation, any kind of risk can lead to a major accident.

A big accident has happened before too

Last year, 67 people lost their lives in a deadly air collision over the Potomac River. Since then, there has been constant pressure on the FAA regarding aviation safety. This is the reason why the agency does not want to rush into this new technology.

Heated debate in White House also

According to sources, a heated debate was also witnessed on this issue in a recent high-level meeting held at the White House. The meeting was led by Marco Rubio, where the Defense Department called for the use of laser systems, while aviation officials advised to be cautious about security risks. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump praised laser weapons and said that it could be a cheaper and more effective option than conventional missile systems. Overall, emphasis is being laid on new technology to deal with the drone threat, but implementing it in densely populated and busy airspace is becoming a big challenge for America.
