A 69-year-old American woman died after falling from a hotel in Hong Kong, with at least seven people injured in the incident.
The incident occurred at Hotel Indigo Hong Kong on Queen’s Road East in the Wan Chai District at around 9 a.m. on May 4, the South China Morning Post reported.
The woman reportedly fell from the hotel’s 29th-floor pool deck.
A police source cited by The Standard said she had been staying at the hotel with her husband, who had left the hotel shortly after 8 a.m. to visit a doctor.
The woman died at the scene after striking a female pedestrian below, New York Post reported.
The pedestrian sustained injuries but remained conscious and was taken to hospital for treatment.
The impact caused glass panels in the hotel entrance to shatter, which injured six other pedestrians.
Hotel Indigo Hong Kong, known for its stunning city views, received the Best Hotel Architecture in Hong Kong award at the 2013 Asia Pacific Awards ceremony.
The four-star hotel has a glass-bottomed rooftop pool and is known for its “wrapped dragon” exterior, which shimmers at night.
