America’s big attack on Iran again! 140 military bases became targets, tension increased regarding Hormuz; UN warned of war

Washington/Tehran. Tension between America and Iran has once again deepened. The US military launched new military strikes against Iran on Sunday (local time). According to US Central Command (CENTCOM), the attacks were aimed at weakening Iran’s ability to target civilian and commercial ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

Military action taken on the instructions of the President-
CentCom said in a statement released on social media platform X that this campaign was carried out on the instructions of the US President. The military says the action was taken to hold Iranian forces accountable for recent maritime attacks and ensure maritime security in the region.

Iran called the attacks a violation of international law.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry reacted strongly after the US attacks. The ministry described these attacks as a serious violation of the United Nations Charter and alleged that it had harmed efforts to reduce tensions in West Asia.

Iran warned that if any country allows its land or military bases to be used for actions against it, the Iranian Armed Forces may consider such bases as legitimate military targets under self-defense.

Trump’s claims regarding Muscat talks rejected-
Iran also rejected US President Donald Trump’s claim that he had mentioned positive results of the talks held in Muscat. Tehran says the talks focused mainly on issues related to the Strait of Hormuz and maritime traffic, and not on the claims Trump mentioned.

Blasts in southern Iran after the attacks-
According to Iranian state media, several explosions were heard in Jask, Bandar Abbas and Serik regions of southern Iran following the US action. However, official information about the damage or casualties caused by these incidents has not been revealed yet.

United Nations expressed deep concern-
United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has expressed serious concern over the increasing military confrontation between America and Iran. He said that if the situation moves towards a full-scale war, its impact will not be limited to West Asia only, but can also have a serious impact on global peace, international security and the world economy.

Guterres has appealed to both countries to immediately stop military action and resume diplomatic talks.

Claim of action on 140 military bases-
Earlier, the US Central Command had claimed that it targeted about 140 military targets of Iran during recent operations. These are said to include missile and drone launch sites, naval bases, weapons stores, communication networks and coastal surveillance centres.

The US military says that the purpose of these attacks is to limit Iran’s military capabilities and ensure the security of international sea lanes.

Trump said- Strait of Hormuz is open-
US President Donald Trump claimed that the Strait of Hormuz is still open for commercial ships and the movement of ships there is continuing normally. He rejected Iran’s claims of control, saying the US is committed to maintaining maritime security in the region.

However, growing differences between Iran’s and US’s claims have further increased tensions and uncertainty across West Asia. The eyes of the international community are now fixed on the next step of both the countries.
