Amidst hijab controversy, Dr. Nusrat Parveen did not join even on the last day, government extended the date
Muslim woman doctor Nusrat Parveen, who came into limelight after the hijab controversy, did not join the government job even on the last day of the deadline. On Saturday, she was to contribute at Sabalpur Primary Health Center (PHC) located in Patna Sadar, but she did not reach there. Meanwhile, the State Health Committee has taken a major decision in this matter and has extended the joining deadline.
Last date for selected doctors fixed as 31 December 2025
Now the last date for other selected doctors including Nusrat Parveen has been fixed as 31 December 2025. Civil Surgeon of Patna said that till now 63 doctors have contributed on their respective postings, but Nusrat Parveen has not joined yet. He also clarified that if the joining date has been extended by the Health Department, then the same instructions will be followed at the district level.
Earlier on Friday, Principal of Government Tibbi College and Nusrat’s classmate Bilkis had claimed that Nusrat would join Patna Sadar PHC on Saturday. He had also said that Nusrat is not angry with anyone and will take up the duty soon. However, his non-arrival even on the last day has raised many questions.
Now the discussion has intensified whether Nusrat Parveen has distanced herself from the government job in Bihar after the hijab controversy or is there still a possibility of her joining in future. Meanwhile, the Jharkhand government has given an open offer to Nusrat Parveen to join the government service in its state. This offer is said to include a salary of around Rs 3 lakh, facilities of choice posting and government accommodation. After this proposal the matter has become more political and discussed.
Nitish Kumar had distributed appointment letters on December 15.
It is noteworthy that on December 15, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had distributed appointment letters to 1283 newly appointed AYUSH doctors. These included doctors of Ayurveda, Homeopathy and Unani system. During this program, the Chief Minister symbolically handed over appointment letters to 10 AYUSH doctors. In the same ceremony, a scene related to Dr. Nusrat Parveen’s hijab was captured on camera, the video of which went viral on social media and became a cause of controversy.
Nusrat Parveen has been in the news since the hijab controversy. Now everyone’s eyes are on whether she joins the job of Bihar government or accepts the offer from any other state. The extension of joining date definitely indicates that the doors are not completely closed for them yet.
