New Delhi : North Korean leader Kim Yo Jong issued a strong statement on Tuesday. He said that the military exercises of America and South Korea are harming the stability of the region. This statement came a day after the Freedom Shield exercise began on March 9, 2026. Without mentioning the Iran war, Kim Yo Jong said that wars are breaking out in different parts of the world. He described America and its allies as dangerous international scoundrels. The board made it clear that North Korea will take every step for its security and will increase its ability to teach a lesson to its enemies.
Practice will continue till March 19
Let us tell you that the Freedom Shield 2026 exercise will start on March 9 and continue till March 19. 18 thousand soldiers of South Korea are participating in this. The number of American soldiers is in thousands. It is mainly based on computer simulation which includes all areas like land, air, sea, cyber and space. Besides, 22 field training drills are also going on. The main command is at Camp Humphreys. The practice spread throughout South Korea.
Kim Yo Jong’s strict message
Kim Yo Jong said that these exercises are taking place at the same time when the global security structure is rapidly breaking down. He warned that flexing its muscles when it comes to North Korea’s sovereignty and security could bring dire consequences beyond imagination. Referring to its growing nuclear programme, the leader said that the country will strengthen its destructive power against external threats. The enemies will be made aware again and again of our power to stop the war and its deadly consequences.
South Korea’s stance
South Korean President Lee Jae Myung admitted that America could take some anti-missile defense weapons to other areas. He said that the government opposed it but the situation is not completely under control. Media reports claim that Patriot systems are being shifted for Iran operation. Nevertheless, the President stressed that the defense against North Korea will not be weakened.
North Korea’s strategy
North Korea has long considered these exercises as rehearsals for attack. Last week, its Foreign Ministry had described the attacks on Iran as illegal. Kim Jong Un has adopted a new cold war policy. He has strengthened relations with Russia and China. Both Pyongyang and Tehran supported Russia’s Ukraine campaign. Now Kim Yo Jong’s statement is a new warning from Pyongyang amid the Iran crisis.
