Aamir scored a double century in the second test, made a place in the special club of Lara-Gayle

Delhi: In the first Test match being played between West Indies and Sri Lanka at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua, 28-year-old wicketkeeper batsman Aamir Jangu created history by playing the most memorable innings of his career. Jangu, who came to bat at number four in the first innings, registered his name in the record books by scoring a brilliant double century. This is only the second match of his Test career, but he impressed everyone by achieving a big feat so soon.

Became the third batsman for West Indies

Aamir Jangu has become only the third West Indies batsman to score a double century in Test cricket against Sri Lanka. Before him, this achievement was recorded only in the names of Brian Lara and Chris Gayle. Jangu faced 342 balls and completed 200* runs. He completed the first double century of his career by taking one run on the first ball of the 142nd over of the West Indies innings.

Brian Lara did this feat twice

Brian Lara was the first batsman for West Indies to score a double century in a Test against Sri Lanka. He scored 221 runs on 354 balls in the first innings of the Test match played in Colombo in 2001. After this, in the Test played in St. Lucia in 2003, he repeated this achievement by playing another brilliant inning of 209 runs in 360 balls.

Chris Gayle still has the biggest innings

The record of playing the biggest individual innings in Test cricket against Sri Lanka still remains in the name of Chris Gayle. He played an explosive inning of 333 runs in 2010. Apart from Gayle, only the name of former Pakistan captain Younis Khan is included in the list of batsmen who have scored a triple century in the Test against Sri Lanka. Younis Khan played a historic inning of 313 runs in 568 balls during the Karachi Test in 2009.

After ODI debut, showed strength in Test also

Aamir Jangu had earlier made headlines by scoring a century in his ODI debut match. Now in Test cricket too, by scoring a double century in his second match, he has proved that he can become the future of West Indies’ batting.
