Before him, this achievement was recorded only in the names of Brian Lara and Chris Gayle. Jangu faced 342 balls and completed 200* runs. He completed the first double century of his career by taking one run on the first ball of the 142nd over of the West Indies innings.

Brian Lara was the first batsman for West Indies to score a double century in a Test against Sri Lanka. He scored 221 runs on 354 balls in the first innings of the Test match played in Colombo in 2001. After this, in the Test played in St. Lucia in 2003, he repeated this achievement by playing another brilliant inning of 209 runs in 360 balls.
Chris Gayle still has the biggest innings
The record of playing the biggest individual innings in Test cricket against Sri Lanka still remains in the name of Chris Gayle. He played an explosive inning of 333 runs in 2010. Apart from Gayle, only the name of former Pakistan captain Younis Khan is included in the list of batsmen who have scored a triple century in the Test against Sri Lanka. Younis Khan played a historic inning of 313 runs in 568 balls during the Karachi Test in 2009.
