At a press conference in Kolkata, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, “There has been politics of fear, corruption and discrimination for the last 15 years. Their politics is based on lies, terror and violence. Usually, governments are elected on the basis of public welfare works, but TMC’s politics has been based on fear and threats. BJP has been fighting against it since 2011 and I am sure that the people of Bengal will give BJP an absolute majority this time. This charge sheet is a collection of 15 years of mismanagement by the TMC government.”

Infiltrators are entering India from Bengal – Shah

Amit Shah said, “West Bengal is the only state from where infiltrators are entering India and creating unrest across the country.” Cross-border infiltration of West Bengal is a national security concern.

Amit Shah said that for the last 15 years, the politics of fear, corruption and tyranny has been going on in West Bengal. He said, “BJP’s ‘indictment’ shows how Trinamool Congress’ mismanagement, syndicate rule and ruling party have made Bengal a laboratory of corruption. This assembly election is to rid West Bengal of infiltrators. In Assam, after BJP formed the government, infiltration has almost stopped; now West Bengal is the only state where infiltration is going on. Mamata Banerjee is playing a ploy to portray herself as a victim. Recognized by the people of Bengal.”

Shah said the Mamata Banerjee government has not provided land for the border fence despite repeated requests from the central government. Calling it a “politically motivated” move, he said, “The TMC government has not given land for the border fence, because they want the infiltrators to be their vote bank.”

The failed promise of ‘Sonar Bangla’

Home Minister Amit Shah accused the TMC of exploiting people by showing them the dream of ‘Sonar Bangla’. He said that due to lack of development, Bengal has become a ‘graveyard of industries’ and the state has now become a laboratory of corruption and a hub for criminal gangs. Shah expressed confidence that the BJP, which has opposed the TMC’s activities since 2011, will form the government in the state this time. He said that under the leadership of the state president, all the BJP workers have entered the field with the determination to form the government.

Appreciation of Shubhendu Adhikari’s role

Amit Shah also praised Leader of Opposition Shubhendu Adhikari. He said that before the elections, the officer had made an extensive tour of Bengal and worked to bring to the attention of every individual the serious problems prevailing in the state like lawlessness, chaos, financial crisis and especially infiltration.
