Demographic Change Committee: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has described unnatural demographic change due to infiltration and other reasons as a big challenge for the present and future of the country. The central government has constituted a high level committee regarding infiltration. Government formed committee

Amit Shah said that to deal with this challenge, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced ‘High-Level Committee on Demographic Change’ on August 15, 2025. He said that I am happy to inform that the government has constituted this committee.

Who is in the high level committee?

The high level committee formed by Home Minister Amit Shah to expel illegal infiltrators has very experienced faces. This team will expose the pattern of infiltrators in a scientific and legal manner without coming under any pressure and will submit the report to the government.

  • chairman: Retired Supreme Court judge Justice Prakash Prabhakar Navalekar is the chairman of this committee. Navalekar is known for his impartiality, strict legal sense and deep grasp of constitutional matters.
  • IAS-IPS: This committee also includes former Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh and retired IAS officer Shri Durga Shankar Mishra and retired IPS officer Shri Balaji Srivastava.
  • Economist also included in the team: Dr. Shamika Ravi, a famous economist and member of Prime Minister Modi’s Economic Advisory Council, has been included in this committee, who will accurately analyze population and social changes.

Why did the government take action?

In the last few years, such reports have come from many states of the country, where there has been an unexpected increase in the population of a particular community in certain border areas and interior districts. This is not a natural population growth, but is the result of illegal infiltration carried out under a well-thought-out strategy. Seeing such changes, the Central Government is losing sleep.
