Amarnath Yatra 2026: Passengers will get QR code identity cards, big decision in Amit Shah’s meeting

Amit Shah Security For Amarnath Yatra 2026: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Friday held a high-level review meeting regarding the security and arrangements of Amarnath Yatra. Many important decisions were taken in the meeting to make the journey safe, smooth and orderly. The Home Minister said that under the leadership of the Central Government, it is fully committed to ensuring the safety and convenient journey of the devotees coming on Amarnath Yatra. He directed all the security agencies to work with better coordination.

During this period, a multi-layered impenetrable security grid will be prepared on the Yatra route with the help of multi-layered security arrangements, use of modern technology, health services, Central Armed Police Forces, Jammu and Kashmir Police and other security agencies. Special emphasis was also given on movement of passengers and registration of local people according to season.

There will be 24-hour surveillance through drones and CCTV.

To strengthen the security system, drones, CCTV cameras, modern surveillance systems and other cutting-edge technologies will be used extensively. Besides, the traditional security system will also be strengthened.

Focus on health, housing and disaster management

Home Minister Amit Shah directed that during the yatra, senior officers of the Central Armed Police Forces and Jammu and Kashmir Police should be present at various camp sites to continuously monitor the security and arrangements. Apart from this, proper arrangements for all the necessary facilities like registration of devotees, accommodation, health services and disaster management should be ensured.

QR code identity cards will be issued

It was also decided in the meeting that the local people involved in the yatra and the animals used in the yatra would be registered. Everyone will be issued identity cards containing QR codes. Special camps will also be organized for health checkup of animals. Keeping the weather in mind, arrangements will be made to move the groups of devotees forward.

Passengers will be allowed to proceed further only on the basis of weather conditions and forecast. Apart from the Amarnath Yatra route, instructions have also been given to strengthen the security arrangements at other major tourist places of Jammu and Kashmir.

The journey will start from July 3

This year Amarnath Yatra will start from 3rd July and will conclude on 9th August i.e. the day of Rakshabandhan. Registration is mandatory for the Yatra, which can be done through Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board and authorized banks.
