Amit Shah reviews national roadmap for cooperative banking, exports and organic products

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah reviewed the national roadmap aimed at strengthening cooperative banking, cooperative exportsand organic productswhile directing cooperative institutions to accelerate digital adoption and cybersecurity preparedness.

The review meeting focused on improving technological capabilities, expanding digital services and enhancing the operational efficiency of cooperative institutions across the country.

Cooperative banks asked to adopt digital platforms

During the meeting, Amit Shah directed cooperative banks to adopt the shared digital platform, common services architectureand cybersecurity systems at the earliest.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) said the move is intended to strengthen the cooperative banking ecosystem and improve service delivery for customers.

Officials discussed measures to modernize banking operations and increase digital accessibility across cooperative institutions.

MuleHunter AI to strengthen fraud detection

The Home Minister highlighted that the integration of MuleHunter AI with the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) would enhance fraud risk management and cybersecurity preparedness within the cooperative banking sector.

According to officials, the integration is expected to improve the detection of suspicious transactions and strengthen safeguards against cyber-enabled financial crimes.

The initiative forms part of broader efforts to enhance digital security across cooperative financial institutions.

Sahkar Sarathi expands digital banking services

Officials informed the meeting that Sahkar Sarathi has launched Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AePS) services, expanding digital banking access for customers associated with cooperative institutions.

The platform is being positioned as a key component of the government’s efforts to strengthen digital infrastructure within the cooperative sector.

Authorities also reviewed progress on integrating rural cooperative banks with the platform.

e-KYC rollout underway in cooperative banks

The meeting was informed that electronic Know Your Customer (e-KYC) services have gone live in select cooperative banks.

Officials stated that the target is to extend e-KYC facilities to 100 cooperative banks by August 2026helping streamline customer onboarding and compliance processes.

The rollout is expected to support greater digital adoption and operational efficiency within the sector.

Rural and urban banks given integration roadmap

Amit Shah directed rural cooperative banks to integrate with Sahkar Sarathiwhile urban cooperative banks were asked to connect with the National Urban Co-operative Finance and Development Corporation Limited (NUCFDC).

The directions are aimed at creating a more unified cooperative banking network and improving access to digital financial services.

Officials said the integration process will help standardize services and strengthen institutional capabilities across cooperative banks.

Focus on strengthening cooperative ecosystem

The review meeting also examined strategies related to cooperative exports and organic products, alongside banking reforms.

The government continues to focus on improving technology adoption, governance standards and financial inclusion through the cooperative sector.

Officials said the roadmap is designed to enhance the long-term sustainability and competitiveness of cooperative institutions across India.
