Milk Price Hike: Milk becomes costlier by ₹ 2 per liter from today; Know why this decision had to be taken, see the new rate list
Amul Milk New Price List: Another blow to the common man’s pocket. Even a basic need of everyday life has now become expensive. Big dairy organizations, Amul and Mother Dairy have also announced increase in prices. Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Limited (GCMMF), which is owned by Anand Milk Union Limited (Amul), has announced an increase in milk prices. The prices of Amul brand milk have been increased from today. These new rates will be applicable across the country from May 14, 2026.
GCMMF has released an official statement. According to this, the prices of Amul milk have been increased by up to Rs 2 per liter. This increase will be applicable on Amul Taj, Amul Gold, Amul Shakti, Amul Tea Special and all variants.
The increase was made in 2025
Amul said that the last time milk prices were increased in May 2025. After that, this is the first time the prices have been increased. According to Amul Company, this increase is on an average between 2.5 to 3.5 percent, which is lower than the normal food inflation rate.
Amul Federation explained the reason behind increasing the milk prices. The Federation said that the cost of milk production is continuously increasing. The prices of animal feed, milk packaging film and fuel have seen a significant increase in the last one year. Therefore, a decision has been taken to increase the price of milk.
The new MRP of Amul milk prime packs for Gujarat (Ahmedabad, Saurashtra and Kutch) will be as follows:
- Amul Fresh – A 500 ml pack will now be available for Rs 29 instead of Rs 28, while the price of a 1 liter pack will increase from Rs 55 to Rs 57.
- Amul Cow Milk – The price of 500 ml pack has been increased from Rs 29 to Rs 30.
- Amul Shakti – 500 ml pack will now be available for Rs 32 instead of Rs 31.
- Amul Tea Special – The price of 1 liter pack has been increased from Rs 63 to Rs 66.
- Amul Gold – 500 ml pack will now be available for Rs 35 instead of Rs 34.
- Amul Buffalo Milk – The price of 500 ml pack has been increased from Rs 37 to Rs 39.
Mother Dairy also released new rate list
Along with dairy organizations and Amul, Mother Dairy also increased the prices of milk. See here the new rate list of Mother Dairy’s milk variants.

80% share goes to farmers
Amul said that about 80% of the amount received from the sale of milk is given directly to milk producers and farmers. Over the past year, member unions have increased the price they pay farmers for their milk by about ₹30 per kilogram of fat, an increase of about 3.7%.
The company says that a large part of the increase in milk prices will reach the farmers, which will encourage them to increase milk production.
